Short Thought continued.....

What has God placed in your hand?

As Moses and the Israelites stood at the edge of the Red Sea

with the Egyptian army hunting them down,

Moses cries out to God for help.

God commands Moses to

‘“Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea.”’

(Exodus 14:15 NLT)

Moses listens to God and faithfully obeys His command.

The Israelites are witness to this close relationship and partnership;

they see that God has anointed Moses as their leader.

Moses’ past story, experiences and training of being a young boy raised in Pharaoh’s household

and a shepherd had helped to prepare and equip him to lead the Israelites.

Moses had held a shepherd’s staff in his hand for many years.

He would have used it to gently guide and direct sheep, to protect them, to warn off predators

and he had probably lent on  it for support many a time as he wandered the hills.

God had placed this tool in Moses’ hand for many good purposes.

What tool has God placed in your hand?

How does He want to use it for His purposes and glory?

The ‘staff’ which God has placed in your hand

is able to be used in many ways and for many good purposes

when it is surrendered and given back to God to be used for His glory.

Like Moses’, your past story, experiences and training will have been

preparing and equipping you for what lies ahead.

As you partner with God to do His work, listen to His voice.

At times His commands may seem a mystery,

yet if you want to see His mighty power displayed before you

and for this to be a witness to others,

you need not question God but simply obey Him.

Moses needed to faithfully obey God by raising his hand before God opened up the sea.

‘Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and

the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind.

The wind blew all that night turning the seabed into dry land.’

(Exodus 14:21 NLT)

Moses and the Israelites stood all night watching God perform this amazing miracle;

it opened up a way for God’s people to be released from captivity.

God’s mighty power was being displayed right before their eyes

and in more ways than they could comprehend.

What an awesome sight it must have been!

You may need to wait and watch through the night to witness God’s miracle.

Will you partner with Him as He uses you to do His work on earth?
