Short Thought continued.....

Restore and Renew

An eagle can live for up to 120 years.  Half way through its life, at the age of 60,

the eagle goes to its favourite place high up on a rock where it sits and

pulls out all of its feathers.  It bleeds profusely.  Being bald, it does not

look like the beautiful majestic creature that it usually is.

As the eagle continues to sit on the rock, the presence of the sun’s rays

brings healing and over several months its feathers grow back.

Restored and renewed the eagle is ready to take off once again

to fly and soar for perhaps another 60 years.

I recently came to a place which resembled the eagle’s half way point.

God asked me to let go of everything I was involved with;

I ‘pulled out’ everything in my life, except for my family.

God asked me to go away with Him to be restored and renewed.

I found myself, like the eagle, sitting in my favourite places

and sitting on a rock – the Rock of Jesus.

As we sat together, Jesus graciously restored and renewed me:

He blessed me with spiritual and physical rest;

He blessed me with the refreshment of His Living Word;

He restored my heart and soul through the presence of His Holy Spirit.

As we sat together looking at the ‘landscape’ for the future,

He showed me new things.

 ‘Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

(Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV)

In the presence of the Son,

my hope and trust were renewed, and my strength was restored.

I am ready to take off once again and to soar with Him.

‘Even youths will become weak and tired,
    and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
    They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
    They will walk and not faint.’

(Isaiah 40:30-31 NLT)

Do you need to come and sit with Jesus to be restored and renewed?

What is God asking you to ‘pull out’ so that something better can grow?

Know that He will sit with you.

The Son will bless you; He will heal, restore and renew you.

He will show you new things.

And with a renewed strength you will fly once again.
